Features of SPIE eBooks include:
- 135 Books: 120 SPIE Press books at the beginning of 2010 with 15-20 new books and editions added over the course of the year.
- Unlimited sitewide simultaneous use
- Post-cancellation perpetual access via DVD of PDF files and Portico
- Fall 2009 access provided at no extra cost to 2010 subscribers
- Unlimited sitewide simultaneous use
- No digital rights management
- MARC records available from SPIE (free) and OCLC
- PDF-formatted book content
- Unrestricted chapter-level downloading and printing
- All of the features of the SPIE Digital Library
- Integrated searching with SPIE Proceedings and SPIE Journals
- Full-text searching of SPIE eBooks
- Open access to book front matter, introductions, and indexes
- COUNTER statistics available
- Chapter DOIs
- Permission to link chapters to courseware systems and e-reserves
There are two options for institutional acquisition of SPIE eBooks.
Option 1:
- Annual subscription: $975 for single-site institutions, with fee fixed at $975 for renewals in 2011 and 2012.
- Post-cancellation perpetual access via DVD of PDF files and Portico for content published during subscription term.
Option 2:
- One time Purchase: 2010 price of $9,875 for full 1989-2010 collection.
- Post-cancellation perpetual access to purchased content on SPIE Digital Library platform for modest annual platform fee. DVD of PDF files and/or Portico access also available.
